Poem #22 Dry Storm

Dry Storm

The masses gather,
Rise in a splendour of beauty,
Magnificent in their grandeur,
Terrifying in their potential power.

The sky darkens, they rise,
Higher and higher
And envelop the earth,
Casting a dark shadow over the burnt land.

They pass overhead
In a majestical form,
Towering above everything,
Ready to unleash their life.

But they pass like a stealthy ghost
In the quiet of morn.
They were blessed yet cursed –
For they bore no wealth.

When will the earth be free
From this terrible thirst?
When will life resume
In this usually pleasant land?

Poem #21: Diamonds in the Sun

Diamonds in the Sun

The air was cold.
The breeze blew gently
From the sea beyond
The hills of hazy blue.

It had rained not
Long before, and tiny
Drops of water lingered
Still on shiny leaves.

The sun soon rose,
Catching each little drop
In its tender rays
Of heavenly gold.

The drops began
To sparkle in the
Light like so many
Diamonds on the trees.

But soon the warm
Caress of gold had
Swallowed up the beauty
It had created.

Poem #20 Come See the Shepherds

Come See the Shepherds

Come, see the shepherds at peace in the field
Come, see the sheep grazing silently.
Come, see the angel proclaiming the news
Come, see the heavenly hosts praising mightily.

Fear not,
Be not afraid,
Good news
I bring to you.
This day in Bethlehem town
A Babe who is Jesus
The Saviour is born.

Come, see the baby asleep in the hay,
Come, see the birthplace so drear.
Come, see the worshipping shepherds,
Come, see the Lord – He is here.

Fear not,
Be not afraid,
Good news
I bring to you.
This day in Bethlehem town
A Babe who is Jesus
The Saviour is born.

Come, see the Man on the Cross on the hill,
Come, see the empty tomb.
Come, see the Saviour who died for our sin,
Come, see the Lord who’s returning quite soon.

Fear not,
Be not afraid,
Good news
I bring to you.
This day in Bethlehem town
A Babe who is Jesus
The Saviour is born.
